The Show reel was created by Rhiannon Watkins which includes previous performances of Everybody Dance recorded at the Octagon Theatre Yeovil and also a selection of dances from the Somerset Youth Dance Company Productions Rhiannon was a former pupil at the school who trained from the age of 2 - 19 years passing all her examinations up to and including Advanced level. Rhiannon is now studying for a BA Hons. in Television and Film Production at Portsmouth University. She has also continued with her dance training with Portsmouth University Dance Squad which recently won the National Hip Hop Championship. Rhiannon is also the President of the Dance Society at Portsmouth University.

 

Cinderella 2011

Congratulations to our students who successfully gained a dancing position with this years professional pantomime production at the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil. Open auditions were held by the company's own choreographer where teenagers were invited from all around the region to take part. We are very proud as all eight students selected attend this school. The lucky 8 are :-

Aimee Brine, Chloe Burton, Charlotte Dimond, Danika Gawronski, Hannah Ingham, Kate Jordan, Amy Page and Lauren White......many congratulations to all.

 

Abigail Matthews Stars in Evita

 

Abigail Matthews trained at the Helen Laxton School of Dance from the age of 3 - 17 years gaining all of her Royal Academy Ballet Examinations and her Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance Modern Examinations to Advanced level. At 17 years of age Abigail began her vocational training at Mountview where she excelled in all aspects of musical theatre. Before she completed her final year of training Abigail was offered her first professional engagement, a 15 month contract playing the mistress in Evita which is touring all over Europe.

 

 

Cinderella 2011

 

 

 

Pictured are the Helen Laxton Juveniles aged between 8 to 14 years of age who have successfully auditioned for a place in this years professional pantomime, Cinderella which is taking place at the Octagon Theatre, Yeovil. For many of the children this is their first professional role, but all are extremely excited and working hard to perfect their performances.

 

 

Red Team Dancers from the Helen Laxton School of Dance are pictured at their first performance of the professional pantomine Cinderella which runs for 3 weeks over the Christmas season. The dancers are aged between 8 -19 years of age. For the youngest pupils this is their first proffessional engagement, for 19 year old Hannah Ingham this is her eleventh season with the company.
